Sports stories get so out of hand so quickly. Melvin
is such a wimp, acting like his feelings are hurt. What Braun said wasn't bad at all, just realistic.
What Braun said:
"They threw the ball a lot better than our starters did. All four guys we saw in this series are No. 1, worst-case, No. 2-type starters. They make big pitches in big situations. You're not always going to get hits in those situations."
Asked about the rotation missing Dave Bush (disabled list) and Manny Parra (demoted to the minors), Braun said, "Regardless of the reasons, we've got to find a way to throw the ball a little bit better for us to have success. When you're constantly behind in games, it's not easy and not fun."
Braun also pointed a finger at the offense during his assessment of the series, adding, "They certainly swung the bats better than we did as well. Clearly, they were the better team."
Melvin is an idiot for that badge comment. Make your point, but don't make Braun sound/look like a spoiled idiot and make him angry. He's a great leader for the club that clearly wants to win.
And an update on the Steve McNair experience. When my brothers and I saw him in Las Vegas- we did see him with this short, not-too-pretty, younger girl. We were all like, "Isn't he married...? Uh oh... I don't think that's his wife." Well, we're pretty sure that the picture that's been flying around in the newspapers is the same girl- which means- WE COULD HAVE STOPPED IT!!!!

Yeah, I am always interested in those "coulda stopped it" moments. I once got within knife-stabbing range of Vladimir Zhirinovsky back in the 1990s when the American press was portraying him as the next Hitler, and the thought did cross my mind. As it turns out, he was just a pompous nationalist blowhard and a drunk... and who can fault him for that? Wait... weren't we talking about baseball? Or McNair? Or Billy Mays? Or the need for pitching? I'm confused.
